Welcome to “Slay That Menopause” I’m Jo Pagett, a Menopause Wellness Practitioner. I’m an Affiliate Member of the British Menopause Society, and a member of the International Menopause Society.  I’m here to support women transitioning through the Menopause phase of their live, ensuring you feel empowered, stay healthy and informed.

When I had a Hysterectomy at aged 36 and was thrown face first into the Menopause, which I had little knowledge about at the time, I was like woooow, I’m now OLD, and it was a place I didn’t want to be. So at that point I decided I wasn’t going to be OLD and I was going to get to grips with this thing called “Menopause” and understand what it’s all about. That was 17 years ago and I’ve been an advocate and championing the Menopause, long before it became “Trendy”, that’s how I come to be here today, I live just outside Market Harborough with my Husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats.

Throughout my professional life I’ve held Senior Leadership positions for some of the largest Global Corporate Organisations, where I have always been an advocate of “Women and Menopause in the Workplace”, across these many positions I have held the role of the “Menopause Champion”, establishing Women Wellness & Wellbeing Employee Resource Groups on a global reach.

I hold my Diploma, Menopause Wellness Practitioner and am proud to be an Affiliated Member of the British Menopause Society, member International Menopause Society and UK/International Health Coaching Association.

As I mentioned in my introduction I went through a Surgical Menopause when I was 36 and had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (the womb, cervix, fallopian tubes (salpingectomy) and ovaries (oophorectomy) are removed) which put me straight into a surgical Menopause and onto Oestrogen only HRT, which I have been taking continuously since (17 years now). It’s a myth that you can only take HRT for 5 years!

Please take a look around to find out more about how I can help you. For up to date details, take a look at my Coaching, You & Your Partner, Nutrition pages on how to stay fit, and Menopause at Work.

I want to ensure you have a good, and well balanced Perimenopause, you maybe feeling lost or noticed a few changes and not sure why or what to do about them, so your looking for answers and not getting very far.  Or having difficulties talking to your partner, this is quite common.

I regularly hear the phrase I want to talk to my Doctor, but I don’t know where to start or what to say, will they take me seriously?  This can feel overwhelming, especially when your Doctor appointment typically only lasts about 10 minutes, it’s difficult to have an in-depth conversation about what’s going on and how you’re feeling in that time. I can give you the time, so we can have the pre-conversation so you know exactly what you need to discuss with your Doctor to get the most out of your appointment. If you’re concerned about HRT or have any general questions I can help to put your mind at rest or answer your questions, and remember I have access to all the resources of the BMS at my fingertips, the same as your Doctor has.

Don’t panic the changes you are about to go through are normal, I’m afraid this is all part of the Perimenopause process and part of being a woman (those who are born with a uterus), that bit I’m afraid I can’t change.

So come on take my hand, we can put a plan in place and get through this, I’m right beside you.

You never stop learning.
